Catch ‘Seven Wonders’ On TV Today

July
31

Regular readers of my column (See July 10 and 29 efforts) know that I have scoured the neighborhoods of Westchester and Putnam counties to come up with a purely parochial list of “Seven Wonders,” defined loosely as odd man-made things that mildly shock and awe. In the course of this important study, I solicited suggestions from readers who came up with some whoppers.
Now, you may have noticed that no photographs of the ‘wonders’ appeared in print…and so, you may have wondered what some of the wonders actually looked like. Well, wonder no more. If you’ve got a cable hookup, you can see a piece did on the Seven Wonders which will air today between 5 and 6 p.m. on RNN-TV’s Newscenter Now. I’m sorry I can’t give a precise time, but that’s the news business.

Also, check your local listings for the channel because it varies depending on the cable company. For example, Cablevision shows the program on Channel 19.
The piece begins with the so-called ‘Skinny House’ in Mamaroneck and concludes with the stupefying Roundabout in Mount Vernon.

You knew I couldn’t resist this.

What’s real big, absolutely environmentally pristine, noiseless, and grants prosperity and well-being to all residents within 150 miles, while playing host to bunnies, raccoons, possums, deer and about 450 turkeys, as well as over a dozen bald eagles? What is this wonder that maintains a primeval 250 acre nature preserve along the only stretch of Hudson shore free of annoying railroad tracks, and simultaneously lights up the Westchester Mall, One Gannett Drive, and all the great apartment houses along Palmer road??? What is this ultra mysterious rival of the great pyramid of Cheops, only its TWO pyramids of Cheops (with the corners buffed off)?

    Yep.

    It’s not Andy Spano.

    It’s not Nita Lowey.

    It’s Indian Point Energy Center

Have a nice day, full of wonders.

Biggie, you’re back! One of your anti-nuke adversairies already suggested Indian Point but for opposite reasons.

Two votes already Phil. It’s in the air, I tell ya’ it’s in the air. Ya’ can’t stop it if it’s in the air.

  4. Pat Burlage

My vote goes to the musical statue in Mount Vernon. All this time I thought I was the only non-resident of Mount Vernon that knew about the music, since I’m driving around without air conditioning, I assumed I was the only person who could actually hear it!

Want to start your private office arms race right now?

I just got my own USB rocket launcher :-) Awsome thing.

Plug into your computer and you got a remote controlled office missile launcher with 360 degrees horizontal and 45 degree vertival rotation with a range of more than 6 meters – which gives you a coverage of 113 square meters round your workplace.
You can get the gadget here: http://tinyurl.com/2qul3c

Check out the video they have on the page.

    Cheers

I’ve got an Amazon gift certificate burning holes in my pocket,
and I want to get the most bang for my buck.

Enter the Secret Amazon Web Pages:

    http://tinyurl.com/38sojf

This is where you’re going to find the “latest sales, rebates, and limited-time offers” from
Amazon, and you can score some pretty deep discounts if you’re a savvy shopper.

Next, there’s the special Sale link. This is open every Friday, and ONLY on Fridays.

You can find the same good discounts here as you would in hidden Deals, although some
Fridays you can really get lucky and make off like an Amazon bandit – I’ve seen discounts
there as low as 75% off sticker price.
