Robertson’s Son Joins Yonkers ‘Finest’

Yonkers City Councilman Dennis Robertson is not too flattering in his comments about Mayor Phil Amicone—as clearly evidenced by today’s column in The Journal News.
Robertson, a Democrat, is hoping to take Amicone’s job in the November election.
In the column, Robertson said he fully expected that the Amicone camp would try to dig up dirt on him. (Say it ain’t so!)
This morning, I got a call from Deputy Mayor Bill Regan, who said the mayor is scheduled to swear in 20 new police officers. And guess who one of the new cops is? It’s none other than Robertson’s son, Dennis, Jr.
Regan thought this was ironic, considering that Robertson had voted against the appointment of Amicone’s choice for police commissioner, Edmund Hartnett.
“He could have been passed over,” Regan said, referring to young Robertson. ‘But we’re not like that.”
Regan chuckled. “Just to show you what a nice guy Phil Amicone is…”

Phil Reisman is a veteran journalist and native of Westchester County. He began his career in 1977 as the head copy boy of a startup New York City newspaper that quickly went belly up. Reisman was not to blame for the newspaper's failure, or so he claims.

Dennis Robertson might come up with some conspiracy theory to try and explain why his son is being named a cop. He might say something like it’s just to make him, Dennis, look bad for the off-the-wall comments he has been making.
Robertson is his own dirt-digger. He dug up all the dirt on himself, and it is about a truckload’s worth of it.
By his own admission, he has a very troubled past, including being institutionalized. And right now, he seems to be in a free-fall, also accusing Amicone of getting that ex-gang member and convict Victor Earl to primary him. That’s as ludicrous as it gets.
Robertson’s disturbing traits, which he himself revealed in today’s column, are making themselves manifest in any number of ways, or so it seems. It appears there are many solid reasons he is the big underdog in the Yonkers mayoral race. Those reasons include his close ties to John Spencer.
Robertson also claimed in a Home News and Times interview (current edition) that he himself basically forced Judge Doran from the race by telling Doran, who was the Dems 2-1 choice for the designation, that he was going to fight him all the way. That can’t make Robertson popular in his own party, either. His empty “war chest” backs up that belief.
Political underdogs always try to get publicity. But the kind Robertson’s been getting is only negative…even self-destructive. He’s doing it all to himself.
Thanks for the information about Judge Doran. Does this mean the man behind the beard has nothing to hide? Remember, public servants are not paid to do campaign work for the mayor. Free lunch went the way of the horse and buggy. The mayor should pay his own tab and give the inspectors a break.
What does Ball’s comment have to do with Robertson? Nothing.
You don’t have to be involved in Yonkers politics in any way at all to know Robertson’s admissions…which are very self-destructive in and of themselves…show that he is a poor choice for the Yonkers Democrats.
In fact, the Democrats didn’t want him. They chose Doran by a 2-1 margin. But here came Robertson several days ago, claiming it was his aggressiveness which forced Doran to drop out. That claim must have gone over like a lead balloon with Dem leaders and rank-and-file party members in Yonkers, who already view him as a Spencer stand-in.
His admissions to Reisman are another big nail in his political coffin.
BTW, if Robertson has been “trouble free” for 27 years, why did he feel compelled to play “True Confessions” in Reisman’s column? A psychologist could answer that question rather easily, especially when this latest example is combined with other things Robertson has been saying and doing for some time.
True, my comments have nothing to do with Robertson, yet.
You don’t need to be in politics to know ONE thing about Yonkers politics, you can smell it a mile away!
These are the same corrupt news reporters that covered up for Jeanine Pirro, nothing you say means anything to the readers anymore, if your newspaper The Journal News gets any thinner, we’ll have to call it The Westchester Times. First off, you guys make no money, you’re a bunch of low lives with big brown noses, with your hands out, green motivates you, Phil, you’ve been lying to the public for years, go stick your head in the sand, your old news, your all washed up, you’re not a writer, you’re a low life. Phil Reisman, you’re not a likeable guy among the readers of The Journal News. Let me remind you, you also said Jeanine Pirro was going to win the Attorney General race, she didn’t. I think you are going to have 2 for 2. That’s a record! Who will win the president race? 3 for 3…
I remember 17 years ago the editor of The Journal News Mr. Hoffman said to be on the phone when I was trying to tell him my story, and he said, hey lady, who are you? And I said, I’m a wife and a mother, and he said, you’re a nobody, and when you’re a nobody, nobody cares, and click he hung up the phone. I feel to my knees crying with the phone clutched inside my hands, and I whispered these words, than I’ll just have to become a somebody, and 17 years later I am The Publisher of THE WESTCHESTER NEWS, you can read the rest of my story in my book BEHIND THE SECTRET DOOR. Phil, you better start having a purpose in life other than living a lie because in the end, no one is there, no one, you stand alone, when God Judges you, and no one can save you then, no one.
GOD WILLING! Dennis Robertson will be the next Mayor of Yonkers.
