Now that dust has settled with the passage of Westchester County’s $1.77 billion budget, it’s timeĀ for a post mortem conversation with Mike Kaplowitz.
Kaplowitz is the Vice Chairman of the county Board of Legislators. He will return as my guest today on “High Noon” on WVOX radio. Tune in at 1460 AM, or log onto wvox.com.
Calls, as always, will be taken at 914-636-0110.

Captain Cliche strikes again. He agrees with everything you say, but explains that, in the face of a “perfect storm,” one must “play it one game at a time,” and “not throw out the baby with the bath water.” We have to “tighten our belts,” and while we “don’t want to kill the goose who laid the golden egg,” we must “get all our ducks in a row.” As we all know, “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” and “all great journeys begin with the first step.” Therefore, little can be done until “all the facts are in.”
Good job, Ed…as always. One you left out was something about kicking the ball through the goal post…But here’s a cliche we’re not hearing lately…”The role of a board chairman is to act like a CEO.”
Glad we’re on the same page, Phil. I think we dotted all the “i’s” and crossed all the “t’s.” I think all of us believe in change, while not discouraging the status quo. I would also like to thank all those who made this possible, whoever they are. And now it is my great honor to introduce someone who needs no introduction, but I have no idea who he is. Nonetheless, he is a man of great vision, and though members of the other party have described him as useless as the tits on a bull, he never ceases to invite everyone to celebrate our diversity. And, in closing, my fellow Americans, ladies and gentlemen of this great nation, I have been asked to remind you that I, personally, am as honest as the day is long, most of which is due to a nosy and very inquisitive US Attorney who, it is rumored, will shortly be removed. The real credit for all that I have accomplished in these many years of service goes to the American people, not to me.
