Good comment posted by “Resident” under blog iten– “The Stuff of American Commerce,” which listed some of the cargo spilled on Westchester County parkways by wayward tractor-trailers. (The little brown boxes referenced are those dopey and very expnseive barriers the county purchased to block cars from entering the Brown River Parkway during heavy rains.)
“It is way past any type of common sense that the county can spend a truckload of money on the little brown boxes at parkway exits, that do nothing to ensure public safety, and completely ignore the ongoing problem of trucks entering the parkways. At the Galleria Mall, just a few steps away from the county offices, they have a simple, effective method for preventing oversized vehicles from entering the garage. I would imagine it a solution that is much less expensive than those silly retractable barriers.”
