It seems like we’ve been talking state Sen. Pedro Espada’s nefarious dealings forever.
In fact, in today’s column about Albany corruption I mentioned the Bronx legislator, whose real address is a $700,000 house is in the Harbor Heights section of Mamaroneck.
Finally, he got charged today. Here’s the lede to the Espada story on lohud.com:
Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada and 19 current or former executives of his Bronx not-for-profit health-care company were charged today with allegedly “siphoning” more than $14 million from the clinic where he serves as president and CEO, Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced today in a lawsuit.
Among the funnier allegations, is the one accusing Pedro of spending $20,000 on take-out sushi that was delivered to his Mamaroneck home.
