Go figure. Just minutes after my colleague, Matt Richter, and I had completed our WVOX radio interview with White Plains Mayor Adam Bradley today, William O’Shaughnessy, the president of the station called Bradley to do another interview with him.
Then the O-Man had the nerve to call the interview an “EXCLUSIVE,” a word he rather shamelessly attached to a transcript of his talk with the troubled mayor.
He starts it off this way:
“Mr. Mayor … Adam Bradley … we heard you on the radio with Phil Reisman. Which would you rather do, be interviewed by Reisman or go to the dentist?
I actually have a tremendous respect for Phil Reisman. I really do believe he’s a thoughtful journalist. And I must admit I don’t have a love for the dentist. So, if I had to choose, I think Reisman would have to beat the dentist!
I won’t print the whole exchange, but here’s another excerpt:
Mr. Mayor … let’s suppose you were a plumber. You think this would be front page news?
Of course not, Bill! I am respectful and understand the sensational nature of this and why it then becomes the news that it’s become. Unfortunately, from my perspective, I don’t begrudge the news, but I obviously hoped there was a higher level of sensitivity to the personal nature of this … to the reasons I wouldn’t be responsive and to having a greater sensitivity to the fact there are two young children, two wonderful, wonderful kids who should not in any way be harmed by anybody.
Frankly, I think the mayor should have thought about the sensitivity issue before he got arrested the second time. As I noted in MY interview, it seems he believes he brought none of this on himself.
